Refreshed by the rich and delicious breakfast at the Perivoli Hotel, we start our day driving through the town of Nafplio to reach the coastal road heading west. Soon, we leave the seaside route and begin to “climb” with our Beetles along narrow, winding, and almost deserted roads in the rocky mountains of eastern Peloponnese.
Driving pleasure, natural beauty, a sense of freedom, and an intermediate destination await us: the small village of Ano Doliana. There, at the traditional tavern “Tholos”, we will enjoy local delicacies, prepared daily with care and traditional methods.
Afterwards, we get back into our Beetles and continue at a relaxed pace along narrow mountain roads toward the destination of the third day of our journey: the village of Vamvakou, which has been revived through a major initiative and restored and revitalized after years of abandonment.
We park our cars in front of Ruga Hotel, which has also been renovated and modernized thanks to the same initiative.
A little later, it’s time for our evening dinner. The restaurant “Voureiko” awaits us, offering its specialized local flavors, accompanied by fine wine.
What makes this place truly unique is the absolute silence, the dark night sky filled with millions of stars, and the visible Milky Way – a sight that awakens deep emotions and leaves an unforgettable impression!
